PLANTING SEEDS IN THE SCHOOL GARDEN

Last Wednesday, 2nd A class went to the school orchard to plant different seeds in a special seedbed brought by Santi and Mª Carmen (from  "Buen Pastor"school).

They planted seeds of different kinds and different sizes: cucumber, melon, turnip, radish, beans, wallflowers,...

They also saw how Santi and Mª Carmen planted  in the garden soil:onions and peppers.

It was a really interesting activity for the kids.

Now we have the two seedbeds in the classroom and the pupils water them everyday.

When they grow, we will change the plants to bigger pots. 

(El pasado miércoles 2ºA estuvo plantando diferentes tipos de semillas en semilleros que trajeron Mª Carmen y Santi del "Buen Pastor"; plantaron semillas de alubias, alhelíes, rábanos, nabos, melón, pepino... Fue una actividad interesantísima. Gracias Chic@s!!!!)

AN EXCURSION TO PICK LEAVES (2ºA)

A trip to pick leaves

Last Thursday we went to the walkway next to the river and the school to pick different types of leaves for an artwork (They are now studying PLANTS in Science). We also took the opportunity to see the different types of trees, bushes and grasses we saw along the path. We saw as well the small peaches that are appearing now in the peach trees. It was a great time.
In fact, we are lucky to have this natural environment near our school.
Silvia, the primary student who is doing the practices in our school, also came with us.

El jueves fuimos a coger hojas cerca del cole, fue fantástico, vimos muchas flores silvestres, árboles, arbustos y hierbas así como diminutos melocotones en los melocotoneros.
Tenemos mucha suerte de estar al lado de un entorno natural tan genial. También vino con nosotros Silvia, alumna en prácticas.

PD.- You can also will see photos of the nice bouquet of flowers taht decorate the 2nd A classroom since Tuesday. They are real, not artificial.
También podéis ver fotos de un bonito ramo de flores que decora y perfuma la clase desde el martes. Son naturales.

WE USE PLANTS FOR FOOD, CLOTHES, FURNITURE AND MEDICINE:

EXPERIMENTANDO CON SEMILLAS

SEMILLAS ("Seeds")

Siguiendo con el estudio de las plantas, esta semana hemos plantado semillas de lentejas en tres vasos transparentes de cristal. Uno de ellos está en clase calentico ("warm"), con sol ("sunlight"), aire ("air") y agua ("water"); otro está en el frigorífico del centro escolar y, el último, en la clase pero sin sol, es decir, tapado con una caja. ¿Cuál crecerá? ("Which one will grow?")

Además, el viernes trajeron distintas frutas (manzanas, mandarinas, limones, naranjas, cerezas, fresas, peras, ciruelas,...) y estuvimos analizando las semillas que se encontraban en el interior de cada una de ellas.- color, cantidad, tamaño, ...

Y, os preguntaréis, ¿qué hicisteis con la fruta cuando terminasteis de estudiarla por dentro? 

Pues, ¿qué vamos a hacer, hombre? Comérnosla!!!!

 ¡Cómo disfrutamos y qué buena está la fruta y qué sana es!
