Animals can be vertebrates or invertebrates.Vertebrates have a backbone.
Invertebrates don’t have a backbone.

VERTEBRATES
Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish are vertebrates. (Mamíferos, aves, reptiles, anfibios y peces son vertebrados).
Mammals are viviparous, they have life babies that drink their mother's milk.
Fish, reptiles, birds and amphibians are oviparous, they lay eggs.
(Los mamíferos son vivíparos, tienen crías vivas que beben leche materna. Los peces, reptiles, anfibios y aves son ovíparos, ponen huevos).
Mammals, birds and reptiles breathe with lungs. Fish breathe with gills. Amphibians breathe, at first, with gills, and when they are adults, they develop lungs.
(Los mamíferos, aves y reptiles respiran con pulmones. Los peces con agallas. Los anfibios primero con agallas y, cuando se hacen mayores, desarrollan pulmones).

Reptiles have scales and hard skin

INVERTEBRATES
Molluscs and arthropods are invertebrates.

Arthropods have a segmented body and limbs with joints. Many have antennae. They have an exoskeleton that protects their body (Los artrópodos tienen cuerpo segmentado y extremidades con articulaciones. Muchos tienen antenas. Tienen un exoesqueleto que protege su cuerpo).
Molluscs have a soft body an a shell. Most have tentacles.
( Los moluscos tienen el cuerpo blando y un caparazón o concha. La mayoría tiene tentáculos).
